We all know what happens to the best laid plans. As I posted before, I bundled Swatchy up in his box and sent DM to the post office to mail him to Noricum. I specifically told DM that the box absolutely-positively-had-to-be-there before Noricum left for New York. Unfortunately, DM made an executive decision at the post office to use a slower mailing method. We all kept our fingers crossed, but Swatchy did not arrive before Noricum's trip.
What to do? Rhinebeck is this freaking weekend! Noricum will be at Rhinebeck. Swatchy needs to be at Rhinebeck. We had two options. Option Number 1: Noricum's family pops Swatchy back in the mail as soon as he arrives, paying an unholy amount of money to get him to New York on time. Option Number 2: Knittah knits a "Backup Swatchy". Enter SwatchGrrl:
SwatchGrrl is worsted weight acrylic ("The Empress") knit on size 8 needles. Her front is stockinette stitch and her back is garter stitch. Her lovely hair is Noro Kureyon. I made her while listening to Nina Kimberly the Merciless, and I think a bit of the main character's personality transferred over to SwatchGrrl. She's going in the post today, so she should arrive in New York with time to spare and all will be well.

She's adorable! (Still no sign of Swatchy.)
i can't wait to see what swatchgrrl will be doing this weekend! oh such lovely sights to see!
We got plugged! See Knitty D and the City
She's so cute! This whole thing is such a great idea. I'm tempted to make my own Swatchy and find someone to take her on their travels.
Cute!
Thanks for the comments on my Eleonora socks - I think you do see less detail cos they're variegated, but i thought the yarn looked kind of antique (in a faintly rusted way, LOL), and love them very much.
Wow, how cute! I hope she has many wonderful adventures. Nina would be proud. ;)
